Hey , My new PC just arrived however the Hard Drive is EMPTY lol ... yeah no OS or anything on it yet . It's SATA II . I tried installing windows XP PRO but it keeps telling me "Please insert a bootable disk and press any key to continue" , my initial thoughts were that the disk was faulty however it does work on my Other PC (This one im using now) . This PC is similar , and has the SAME hard drive . What i really want is for that PC to have an exact copy of this hard drive im using now . Any ideas ??? i dont have norton ghost

I'm not a total noob at this . I have done this a lot of times but this time is different . It wont recognize any of the "Bootable" CD's such as XP home or XP Pro . Or even 98 . It did however Detect and run a Recovery CD that i have for my OLD PC , and i have used this on my friend's pc many times . But it hangs at the screen saying it is about to format my HDD . (and no it's not formatting) . It should jump to the next confirm screen after that but it doesn't .

Ghosting the old HDD may not work as the hardware HAL is different, most times it would just crash and restart.
You need to set your New PC BIOS to boot from CD/DVD first .

Did you go into the BIOS and select the CD/DVD-ROM drive as the first boot device?
