When will libs learn that it takes resolve and support to win a war? Will libs spit on the troops that come home from this war like the ones that came home from Vietnam?

The question is not whether the Iraq war is a mistake but what kind of mistake it is? For instance the although they may appear similar Vietnam and Iraq are nothing alike. Vietnam was a political mistake because the US political thinking was that we could not and would not allow for the military to achieve total victory for fear of triggering a Soviet and Chinese response that could lead to a nuclear showdown. That is not the case here. Ironically the 2 factors preventing a total victory now is the US's fear of alienating foreign nations and the public backlash from deploying an additional 400000 troops to Iraq to stabalize the nation. The Army war college as well as other high rankling generals and analyst have known that it would require 500,000 US troops on the ground to control and stabalize the country. The idea was to have troops all through out Iraq while closing the borders until the Iraqis could form a government then withdraw. This proved sucessful in both Italy and Germany after WWII. It is kind of hard for terrorist to plant an IED when a a platoon is 20 feet away watching them. This plan would have denied the Insurgents and Terrorists the oppurtunity to take root as well as providing a semblance of order for the Iraqis. Finally the question of why and should we have went is moot because we did and we are there now. The quesiton is do we create a democratic Iraq or do we go home. Whatever we decide however should be an all or nothing choice and we should not fall into the nickel and dime mentality as in Vietnam where we sent 20,000 thousand troops, then another 40,000 thousand and so on.

Will Baby Boo Since you didn't live through that era let me clue you in.

While Vietnam was a war.... The US never declared war on the North Vietnamese. We were there in an "advisory position." Unless we were fired upon we could not engage the enemy. If the US caused damage to a tree we had to reimburse the farmer for his tree.

For some reason the US was not allowed to intensify their participation in the war... We fought the North Vietnamese army And guerrillas. After the fall of Bagdad, we figh terroriest.

We supposedly went into Iraq with the purpose of winning the war AND setting up new government to take over.

In Vietnam we just ; there.

What? Why should I or any other American say that we made a mistake in Iraq and in Vietnam. Are the American people forgetting as military personnel you do not set any agenda in the world or at home, you are only deployed by your commanders by way of your elected officials and what the American masses have found to be a popular issue at that time.

Oh I hope this doesn't turn out to be another Vietnam like all other vets, who have felt the undeserving blows of the unappreciative American public and their ant-war activist.

When you get people like Ex-CIA Tenet and others to admit truthfully to their wrongdoings then you can expect the President to do the same.

And for now the ball keeps rolling..........

whether we like it or not !

Sure , I can see why liberals think stopping the spread of Communism was a mistake . The mistake was the left fighting against it's own country ..like they are doing now . Clinton sets the country up for terrorism attacks ..and then the rest of the elected liberal democrats fight a war on the war on terror ..and aid & comfort the enemy every step of the way ..just like John Kerry & Jane Fonda did in Vietnam . The only mistake now ..is the libs are doing the same thing . Fighting terror is a bad thing ..only in the minds of those who see nothing worth fighting for in our country .

it truly is probable the excellent question I even have study on the YA internet site because I even have been a member. Obama and the few who voted against invading Iraq with out further information and with out going to the UN are the authentic Heros. Even maximum sane electorate and politicians have now sided with Obama asserting that if that they had comprehend there have been no weapons of Mass Destruction they does no longer have stood at the back of the invasion. hi, you probably did no longer comprehend there have been WOMD simply by fact there have been no longer, so....? What truly shows the shortcoming of intelligence on the part of many, whether, is they proceed to affiliate 911 with Iraq whilst the two had no longer something to do with one yet another. which would be Afghanistan or maybe then, it isn't the entire area. it is frightening how little human beings tell themselves on significant issues which includes this. no longer in basic terms that yet individuals are financially helping (whether or no longer they comprehend it or no longer) new shape in Iraq whilst many won't be able to have the money for their own residence here interior the U.S. a minimum of, if Iraq needs the troops there (and that i'm no longer asserting they do) because Iraq is at a surplus simply by warfare and we are in a Recession/melancholy era interior the U.S., permit Iraq electorate pay for the troops, no longer the U.S. we are no longer doing ourselves any service any way you look at it. in many circumstances, human beings do no longer see that those (alongside with communities human beings college professors) who begged Bush to no longer initiate up this have been truly helping our troops. Our troops assume the Commander & chief to apply intelligence and discretion whilst choosing what's and is not any longer worth beginning aggression. If the worldwide so desires, Bush & others may be tried for worldwide warfare Crimes. If human beings study what's defined as in simple terms warfare and what isn't in basic terms warfare, Bush had no military reason to invade Iraq under the in simple terms warfare Doctrine.

Unfortunately when its too little too late. Most Americans realize that this war was a HUGE mistake like Vietnam, but unfortunately our president is in so much of a denial he won't admit it. If he admits it he probably will seem too weak, and there's really no point in him listening to the American people because his term is almost over and he isn't worrying about re-election because he can't run again. So basically when we have a new president, then their will be someone who admits we made a big mistake.

The Iraq War is not a mistake. Bush is taking direct orders from Israel to invade and occupy the Middle East. Nothing in this world is a mistake, believe me.

Why do you assume everyone thinks iraq is a mistake? If our troops pull out early and iraq descends into chaos 'everyone' will believe in these liberal lies....if we stay and sort out iraq everyone will see that freeing iraq from tyranny wasn't a mistake.

I guess to see iraq as a mistake you'd have to NOT be making millions of dollars being involved in it......we've created a terrorist training theme park over there, so we're not fighting them on our soil..... but we'll continue to hold up our troops in front of them like a punching bag, and for how long? never mind we had no real reason to go into iraq this time..... terrorist were not a problem in iraq till we came there and created a home for them, now we're spending billions to fight them. utimately/hopefully the people of iraq will be better off without saddam but there will likely be years of civil war before they'll see better times. we excell at conventional war but we (the US)can't fight a guerrilla war and win it, or so it would appear.
