The Battle of Hastings was not at all humorous or funny!! In fact, it is one of the battles that changed the course of history in Europe and in the British Isles. 1066AD is a date to remember when the French King who claimed his right to the throne of England, invaded. the Saxon King Harold had been fighting off the Norwegians to the North and had defeated them. To fight William of Normandy, Harold had to force march his tired and war weary army south. They just were not able to keep up with the fresh French troops and lost the battle. Then William and the French became the nobility and ruled over the Saxons for years. The result was that French and Roman and Greek culture flooded into England and changed her forever. GREAT story!!

Chow!!

The French beat England (since today France is considered to be a country that runs away from a fight.)

Hey William, You Took England

Bearing in mind that this hard-fought and close run battle changed the history of my nation for ever, and wasn't really all that much fun:

it was fought up and down a hill - Harold's army at the top, with William's army charging up it, so how about Monty Python's - 'RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY'

'One In The Eye For Harold'.

The English King Harold Godwin was reputedly killed by an arrow in his eye, which led to the collapse in morale of his troops and the defeat of the English army by William the Conqueror and his troops.
