I have always found it amusing when liberals and democrats INSIST that you join the military and fight on the front lines if you support US efforts in Iraq. Mainly because complaining about the war and bashing their president doesn't require them to do a phuq'ing thing but complain! Go figure.

It comes from the days when people would actually go enlist in time of war out of a sense of duty.

The theory is that Republicans are motivated to support the war soley by fear of terrorism. So, if you actually present them with fear of fighting the war themselves (by suggesting that the draft is inevitable, for instance), you should be able to get them to jump ship.

That's true. It makes no more sense than the argument that disagreeing with the president is somehow unpatriotic or emboldens the enemy. People from both extremes revert to baseless rhetoric in the course of political discussions.

Is being consequent.
If you support something, it is expected from you to do your best to make that something succeed.
If you're a young able-bodied man who supports the war, there are no excuses: you should be there.

Well - it's kind of like saying "put your money where your mouth is." There are many rabid "patriots" that are very hawkish, until it knocks on their door. I know many die-hard GOP folks who were absolutely flabbergasted when I told them I was going. I told them that this country was worth paying taxes and fighting for. Their exact response I don't remember, but it implied that the actual fighting was for the "other" (implied lower classes) people. I pretty much turned my back to the right wing at that point. Thanks for the chance to respond.

the fact is - it was the democrats who voted to go to war in Vietnam . I would bet the people who suggest other people who don't agree with the war , to go the war - don't even know that .

Its all political Jargon that doesn't mean a hell of beans. If they had brighter politicians in office we could think this problem out instead of sending our kids to do the dirty work for the idiotic fools in charge.
