True.
'Question,' though implies examination and a logical thought process, not just knee-jerk paranoia.

I think that there is a happy medium between having blind faith and complete distrust.
I am not defending Bush, but I certainly am not the same person that I was 10 years ago. Most of us aren't. I would be very weary of a person who doesn't change.
Should we question our government?
Yes
Should we also have some faith in our elected leaders?
Yes
If we can't trust our leaders at all, then there is no point in having a democracy, or a theocracy, or a monarchy, or any other form of government.
Believe it or not, our government is the best form of government that has ever been created.
That being said, it is not perfect either.
A true patriot has faith in the goodness of his country. It doesn't mean that he has faith in the goodness of his leaders. A patriot does what is best for his country, whether it means he is criticizing or standing behind his leaders.
You should never be asked to lay your life on the line for your leaders, and unless you are the personal bodyguard of a diplomat, you never will. But, if your elected leaders ask you to risk your life in the defense of the country, then a true patriot would be more than obliged to do so.
Even if you disagree with their cause, our elected leaders are elected to run our country. They serve the country, and so do true patriots. That is why we vote for people to create policy and lead the country.

It looks like you have been paying attention. Democracy thrives on dissent and difference of opinion. Totalitarianism thrives on people walking in lockstep with the fearless leader.
I saw a program on North Korea a week or so ago. Amazing how one man can be responsible for so many things that are good and how he NEVER does anything wrong. American doctors were there to help people where the N.K. doctors could not. Who gets praise and ALL the credit? Kim Il Jong.
For the few who critize Kim they disappear never to be seen again. Sometimes their families are put into hard labor concentration camps.

By all means do question your government on everything. That is a very patriotic thing to do. But the lines get crossed when someone supports the views of an enemy to this country. Being patriotic is kind of like being a sibling...we can fight between ourselves but if someone gets in the middle of it they will have to deal with the both of us.

organic Propaganda B S. The left wing media has allowed the Democrats to mouth their propaganda and in no way even ask for info or particular examples to help their claims. I help the Tea occasion and anybody I even have met has been known human beings that merely choose a a smaller government it relatively is in charge and representatives of maximum persons of human beings values. Their ordinary concern is not sensible spending and vote-purchasing (Corruption). If that makes us Terrorists, Racists, religious enthusiasts, or toddler ingesting devils in the eyes of liberals and their media, then so be it! There are extra persons on a daily basis our government maintains going the way it relatively is, and we are able to verify in 2012 who wins.

Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
But yeah, you have to question what is going on around you of course. It's out of our control, but sometimes our voices can be so loud and so fierce that it can bend ones will.

Excellent point. How anyone could have faith in ANY politician after all of the scandals of the past 100 years in America. It gets worse all the time, and the people seem to believe it even more! It is unreal.

Oh so very true. This however is not a reason to trash everything. Be constructive - make things happen – don’t just complain.

I agree 100% our government cannot be trusted to look after our interest. They merely are looking after their own, and by following their own agenda they have destroyed this country, and its time we take it back and make them pay for their disservice.
