Volkswagens don't have transmission fluid dipsticks.
Their claims is their sealed transmissions don't need additional fluided added.
However, this is rarely the case.
There is a plug at the top of the transmission. You'll need to remove it to test for proper fluid level.

You are correct; VW and some other car manufacturers have lifetime trans fluid . However, an owner or a shop can check the fluid and change it whenever he chooses to do so. There is a drain plug for drainage. There is also a fill hole on the side of the trans. A simple hand pump will suffice to pump the fluid into the trans. If you really wanted to check the level you would have to remove the large plug on the side of the trans and feel if the level comes up to the top of the hole. But really there is no need to check the level. Unless you find trans fluid leaking under the car. There are literally millions of cars with sealed trans. on the road. My sister has a 2000 VW with a sealed automatic trans and has had no issues. You did not say if you had an automatic or manual trans. The above info is primarily for manuals, but the automatic should not be that different.

Volkswagons have a fluid level sensor instead of a dipstick.
