The question is just that simple: Do we need any more laws?
The law books are so bloated, should we not purge all of the unused and bygone laws before moving on with more legal crap?
Our plublic 'servants' do their very best to make sure that the regular person cannot possibly understand what is being passed and they add unrelated items that cannot get passed another way or is so distasteful that it kills what is being discussed.
I cannot see the reason for one single law that is not on the books that needs to be made
Copying DVD's? Well that was dealt with when the xerox and mimeograph machines came out. you can make a copy for your own personal use, not for profit. Do we really need separate laws for each type of copy for every type of media that exists?
Gun bans? They do not work and only the law abiding follow the laws, so the criminals, by definition, will keep their guns and cause more havok because their victim pool just grew!
Theft, murder, etc.. are already illegal

My thought is that our lawmakers have done more than enough damage and it is time to shut them down! ANY bill that is generated by an industry should be banned!
NO NEW LAWS! unless it can be shown that it is:
1. needed
2. beneficial to the society as a whole
3. NOT DEALT with by already existing laws!
4. it should have an expiration date and cannot be permanent until it has been re-approved and that only after examination and unequivicol proof that it actually accomplished what it was designed to do

Short answer? No. We do NOT need more laws. Most of the laws on the books now (apart from traffic laws) are pretty much covered by The Ten Commandments and The Golden Rule.(And see how effective those have been?) Re: major felony-type laws-good guys don't need 'em, bad guys don't care! I can't subscribe to your whole plan as stated, but in spirit, I'm with you. Also, many of our existing laws are attempting to do something that can't be done... Legislate good sense or good taste. One is obviously "preaching to the choir"; the other is a matter of opinion, and should not be legislated. The law is reactive, its doesn't imagine a scenario and pass a law. It waits until there is a clear need. Sometimes it waits too long-ie: stalker laws. One thing-Want to see a law created "over-night"? Watch how fast legislation passes when someone famous dies of a new "street drug". Now THAT's a good thing! Just wish it didn't have to wait for someone famous. Re: archaic laws-I grew up in Scottsdale, AZ ("The West's Most Western Town.") I kinda hated to see the signs on our streets that said "Horses have the right-of-way" come down.... they finally took out most of the wooden boardwalks too. Darn.

Laws change as societies change. I agree we have way to many, but a lot of them are just a clearer interpretation of an older law. What would our professional politicians do if they couldn't make new laws, and have you noticed that most of them are lawyers to boot. They seem to make laws to ensure that their legal Buddy's can make a great living.

You know, except for bizarre exceptions laws don't get created over the blink of an eye. It could take decades to pass a single law through all of the branches so your opinion is kinda moot.

Plus new laws are even rarer, usually it is just amending old laws.

I probable am not qualified to respond to this question considering I easily have under no circumstances seen an entire episode of CI. inspite of the incontrovertible fact that, whilst i attempted to exhibit screen an episode of CI it bored me, that is probable why I under no circumstances have been given to the tip. I easily have seen many SVU episodes and maximum are very stable. they vary from being very stable to only fairly stable reckoning on the ever changing forged. as long as Olivia and Elliot are there nevertheless, its many times going to be between the extra perfect episodes.

No, we do not. We need less political correctness, more protection of society as a whole and less individual rights concerns and as a whole, just ENFORCEMENT of the laws we have.
