I'm a pretty old guy and I've always used Never Seize on lug nut threads because they never tear up the threads wheen loosening. The taper on the nut against the wheel keeps them tight, not the threads. I personally like a Craftsman 1/2 in breaker bar with a 9 mm deep well socket. Any woman or guy can easily remove the lug nuts because of the 17 3/4 long breaker bar. The angularity of the tool is perfect. To me, I get a good feel when tightening the nuts also.

best thing you can do is before you have the flat tire is this.
put some anti seize on the lug threads. this will keep them from rusting if they are on a long period of time between tire changes etc.
then do not over torque them find what the dealer or tire store recommends and torque to that spec only.
if you do this when it does come time to replace that blow out and the weather is crappy you will not be there all day/night fighting with them.
good luck hope this helps

Lots of good answers here. Put some WD-40, or other penetrating grease on it, or get more leverage with a pipe as advised above. Or, take them off when you have some time on your hands and really lube them up on all the threads. Then when its show time....

Give them a kiss first. They might come off then without using excessive force.

get yourself a 4 way tire wrench to keep in the trunk, they are so much easier to use than the factory handles and you can get a lot more leverage on it.

A length of pipe, say about a meter long.

Leverage is everything.
