If so, did you ever ditch those awful leather shoes during class? Or could you get fried for that? Thanks!

I would think that would be a major no-no. If you are wearing your leathers, it goes with the uniform. So technically it would be out of uniform. I suppose it probably depends on your reputation and what year you are in as well as to if you get in trouble. I'm still not clear on what you are trying to do...what pack sneakers in your bag and change for class only? Seems a little over the top...or are you going to go shoeless.
Sorry to be of no help...it just something I never thought of while there.
