He's been doing this for the last 3 days!
It's an established 80 ltr tank with a extra long airstone but no live plants. (Kept getting distroyed! The other fish all seem happy and acting normally. I have two Knife fish, 3 neon tetras, 2 large snails and a pair of small betas.
Over a week ago I had an alge bloom & did a partial water change, aged the new water and than cleaned my filter. The tank has been crystal clear for more than a week. Ammonia & PH levels are all fine. HELP! I really don't want to lose my Angel, he's a real character and very tame.

Since you eliminate ammonia as a potential problem, my first thought would be temperature. Be sure the temperature isn't too high.

After that I would go back to ammonia and say check it again and even have it checked at a local shop to be sure your kit is working properly.

As a last thought, check all of the fish very closely for any signs of fungus or parasites. These may be very slight on the surface of the fish, but heavy on the angels gills causing him to have problems breathing. If you think you see such a problem, feel free to email me and I'll be glad to help.

I had the same thing with my 3 angel fish a mth back. I saw them gulping in air and thought nothing of it. What i felt unusual was that they surfaced all the time when they would usually hide among the plants. A few days later i saw all 3 swimming upside down.

What i did after that is an unreliable answer to your question. But this was what i did after asking my friends who knew more abt fishes. I had them placed in a different tank. I then added a little salt. Wif each passing hour i added abit more salt. At the same time the whole tank was kept very bubbly with oxygen. They got better after almost a whole day of constant watching over. What my friends said was that it could be bcos of algaes or worms.

I'm not sure abt the reason for adding salt and blasting the oxygen level. I just want to let you know what others told me to do cos they r well experienced. Perhaps you could ask around and see if they say the same thing or have diff methods. Just sharing my experience.

I hope ur fishes get well. I cross my fingers n God Bless.

Start by cleaning your tank and filter, then adjust your water return so that the returning water is breaking the surface tension. I have my return set at least an inch above the waterline and have the water entering so that a current is created. This oxygenates the water, air stones are great for improving the look of your tank but do little to nothing to oxygenate the water

this might sound crazy but when my aunt came home her angel fish was on the ground so my cousin took it and adjusted the water temperature to the tak and kept running it in the water the way it would swim and then lifted it out went back and did it again she did this 5-10 minutes but like every 10 seconds she would hold it sitting in the water now im not saying you have to do this but it is a suggestion dont do this until you go to the pet store and tell them whats wrong

Do you know how incredibly overloaded you are?

80 Liters is 21 Gallons. So only 21 inches of fish...

You have a total of 52.5 inches!

I am not surprised they are dying...

Angel Fish actually are one of the few fish that have lungs so it is perfectly normal.
