I almost dozed off around 3 pm and my phone rang. A telemarketer call came in. It made me come wide awake. I had to go to the dentist early this morning, so my usual routine of going to bed immediately after I get home flopped.
Now I have a headache, my back hurts and I feel exhausted, but cannot sleep. Any ideas on how to go to sleep or should I just wait until dark and go to bed like normal?

Try laying on your back and closing your eyes. Let your eyes relax. Relax your tongue in the center of your mouth, away from your teeth. The tongue is the strongest muscle in the body, if it's tense, the rest of you will be tense. Systematically and mentally, concentrate on every part of your body with the intent being relaxation. Your arms, your hands, your legs, your shoulders, your back, relaxing each and every part of yourself. Eventually this technique has always worked for me, and I hope it does for you as well. Good luck, and sweet dreams.

Are you off tonight? When I worked nights I would stay up if I had the night off and just go to bed a bit early. If you have to work tonight, you better try to get more sleep.

If you have the money, go get some Tylenol PM. I work graveyards and when I can't sleep this is what I use. It is non-addictive, as all it really has in it is Tylenol and Benedryll.

I think that taking a bath always works. It calms you down and relaxes you. Not that this advice will help so late.
