i'm doing a math project on a recipe. we have to write the original recipe, half of the recipe (like if the original were 2 cups half would be 1 cup), and double the recipe.

4 fractions must be included in the recipe

if one of the fractions is 1/2.. than whats half of 1/2?

lol

Think of the word "of" as "times"

So, "half of 1 1/3 cups" would be done as follows
1 13 = 4/3

Half "of" 4/3 means 1/2 times 4/3.

Multiplying fractions multiply the numerators (the top numbers) together, and multiply the denominators (bottom numbers) together

So 1/2 x 4/3 = (1 x 4)/(2 x 3) = 4/6

But we're not done yet
4 = 2 x 2, and 6 = 2 x 3
so 4/6 = (2 x 2)/(2 x 3)
That's the same as 2/2 x 2/3
And 2/2 = 1 and 1 x anything is that thing (1 x 4 = 4) so 1 x 2/3 = 2/3

As for the recipe, I'd check a cookbook. Sorry, I'm no chef.
So, half of 1 1/3 = 2/3

1/2 of 1/2 = 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4

Rule: Numerator*Numerator/Denominator*Denominator
