George Washington: Established the tenor of the office and most of its ongoing traditions. He was what all Presidents should strive to be.

Abraham Lincoln: Kept the union together and freed the slaves. Emancipation proclamation anyone?

Theodore Roosevelt: Brought the US to the world stage by sailing the navy all around the world.

FDR: Presided over the country during the greatest outside threat it has ever faced, got the country ready for WWII and fought vehemently against Axis powers, tried anything to help the country economically.

Truman: Ended the war with two very large bombs and began the efforts to stop communism in its tracks with the Marshall plan.

JFK: Continued to fight against the spread of communism and got missiles out of Cuba.

Johnson: Attempted to stop poverty, continued the fight against communism with Viet Nam.

Nixon: Opened the door to China.

Carter: Began deregulation that was continued and highlighted under Reagan.

Reagan: Continued deregulation. Emphasis on supply side economics. Large tax cuts (bigger deficits). Continued fight against communism (increased spending on defense to bankrupt USSR).

Bush I: Presided over, and assisted, with a largely peaceful revolution in Russia (most give credit to Reagan, but should be for all Presidents from Truman to Reagan). Gathered a lot of support to oust Hussein from Kuwait.

Clinton: Largest peacetime prosperity in our history. Began measures ultimately adopted by Bush II to defend against terrorism. Lower taxes, lowered national debt, surpluses.

Bush II: Began an offensive against terrrorism (athough he took his eye off of the ball when invading Iraq).

I hope that is enough. I did not cheat.

I'll name them in reverse order:

Clinton (D) - Monica, lots of unattractive girlfriends an un-hot wife (he is no Jack Kennedy).
Bush I (R) - Gulf War
Reagan (R) - Won the cold war
Carter (D) - Iran Hostage Crisis/Oil Crisis
Ford (R) - Moved us ahead from Watergate
Nixon (R) - Got us out of Vietnam, Detente', Watergate
Johnson (D) - Great Society paid for it with the Vietnam War
Kennedy (D) - Tough on Communism, lots of attractive girlfriends and hot wife.
Eishenhower (R) - Mellowest time in U.S. history
Truman (D) - Dropped two nukes on the Japanese
Roosevelt (D) - Only President to go against George Washington's example of self-imposed 2 term limit.

I know, Roosevelt was #11, but he had so many accomplishments - he had them build the atomic bomb and he ignored the intelligence that said Japan was going to attack us so he could get us into WWII, also ignored when one of his allies (USSR) massacred the officer corps of another U.S. ally (Poland). Gave us the failing Social Security System - good luck collecting on that promise. What a great guy!
