For each function,

1) Pick some arbitrary value for x.
2) Find the corresponding value for y.
3) Plot the ordered pair.
4) Repeat as many times as needed.

You will have what looks like a dotted line representing the function after plotting enough points.

It's sort of a hypothetical.

What it means is for y=x, IF x = 0, then y = 0. If x = 3, then y = 3

This is a diagonal line that rises to the right hand quadrant at a rate of 1. Start at (0,0) and go to (1,1), (2,2) etc. Then go to (-1, -1), (-2, -2), etc.

The second one is similar except that it rises twice as fast. When x = 0, y is also 0, but at x = 1, y = 2. Here are some other points. (2, 4), (3, 6), (-1, -2), (-2, -4). This is also a diagonal line that rises to the upper right quadrant, but for every step you take on the x-axis, take two on the y-axis.
