Is anyone familiar with what to feed these guys when they are being kept a pets? Mine are eating betta pellets that sink to the ground, but I am not sure that is enough nutrients. What els should I be feeding them?

They are scavengers, so whatever you feed the betta, they'll eat. You should try adding some variety to your betta's diet though to include some items bloodworms and/or daphnia.

Fiddlers are from brackish water, so they need some salt, but not seawater strength. You can keep them at 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of water (1/2 teaspoon per gallon is close enough if your tank is less than 5 gallons). This amount won't hurt your betta or any plants in the tank. You should also have a place where your crab can get completely out of the water when it wants.

Hi,
a good way to insure that your crabs are eating and getting enough nutrients is simple. All you have to do is drop pellets in the tank and leave. They dont usually eat untill you are out of sight. And no betta food is not good enough for them they need crab food. Ok, this might sound a bit weird but they also LOVE hermit crab food!

Fiddler crabs are scavengers, which means they'll eat anything. Betta food, fish food, algae, algae wafers, lettuce, cucmbers, shrimp pellets, etc. Sometimes they can be picky - just be glad yours is eating.

the fiddlers do live in fresh water and they eat frozen fish food and algae pellets...they only live for about a year so if it dies it is probably not your fault...
