When I first got that shot I spotted for a few months off and on then I finally it stopped. Every woman is different with this shot some lose their periods other will stay the same. Just depends on how it affects you. I wouldn't be too worried about the spotting. Ask you OB the next time you go in for a shot - it will help ease your mind.

everything is fine Hun i have been on depo for 3 years and the same thing happened to me in the beginning. You should be getting your next one around April 21 after that shot you probably wont have any bleeding at all. make sure though that you get your shot on time because that can cause you to bleed too. With Depo provera you have a time frame window of one week before your 3 month day or one week after that day. Its one of the best birth controls out there and if you just stick it out you wont be sorry. I mean how better could it be no more periods no more worrying about taking a pill at certain time, only a shot once every three months. Its very unlikely to even get pregnant because you don't get a cycle at all. Once you have been on it for a year even if you stop getting the shot it takes another year after you have been off to get on a regular cycle and even to get pregnant. Good luck Hun and don't be scared everything is normal!

Women who wish to come to be pregnant would possibly quit utilizing Depo Provera at any time. For a few females, fertility returns instantly. After discontinuing Depo Provera, females may additionally have a 6 to twelve month lengthen in go back of fertility."

I remember taking 2 Deprovera shots for birth control. I wanted to try something different than birth control pills. I had spotting for the 6 months that I was on it. In addition, I had lost 40 lbs. I couldn't get any sleep. I didn't have an appetite. I was also very emotional. In addition, I noticed I was getting yeast infections quite often. So, I discontinued it. I wish my OB/GYN had told me of the side effects. Not all women experience the same side effects or none experience any. I just got tired of wearing a pantyliner everyday.

Its very common with that shot.. one of my friends was on it, and had that happen then after that her periods were always messed up the whole time she was on it, like they say a lot of the time you dont even get it, etc.. she ended up getting hers every month for two, or more weeks at a time for a while, it messes your body all up. If its possible I would consider a different type of bc because the shot I have heard nothing but bad about, but if your concerned call your doctor, and discuss it with them, they will be able to tell you whats normal, and should have even discussed all that with you before putting you on it..

The second time I went on depo, I spotted for 8 months. Very annoying but nothing to worry about.

That's pretty much normal. It may stop after a while.
I dated a gal for several years that was on the depo.Same thing happened to her. It's more of an annoyance than a health hazard.
You still might want to check with your doctor,as all drugs affect everyone differently.

Some women spot often with the Depo. This shot can make some women's hormones surge way out of control. Talk to your doctor about this.

I feel for you! The same thing happened to me! My doctors told me that it was "normal", so they kept injecting me. The only problem was that I had my period for 10 months long! I never once stopped bleeding. Finally, after months and months, and several anemia tests, my doctor told me that it was time to stop. Nothing bad was happening, I was never anemic, it is just the way my body responded to it. It may be the same thing for you. Don't be scared. You just maybe should think of another type of BC. I use the ring now.
