you should never start with easy start, they rely on it after a while. i have seen this problem a lot.
I think, assunming that the car is in good mechanical condition, that it is likely to require the bleed off pipes changing between the injectors and from pump to fuel rail. there are a few other things that it could be, but i think this is a good place to start. i have fixed a few , astra diesels as well, that people have been told they need a new fuel pump ect, i have got the pipe for about 3 quid, and this so far has aleways fixed the fault(same sympton's as yours).
What happens is that over time the pipes become brittle and start to suck in alot of air. too much air and they wont start. feel the pipes , and see if they are wet at all after cranking over. 15 minute job to replace and less than a fiver, i would say 90 per cent chance this is the prob.

I t is impossible for an inanimate object to be addicted to any thing. The reason for this common misconception is that the original problem such as poor engine compression,or faulty glow plugs etc is never addressed so the problem doesn't go away.If you have checked every thing and all seems OK ,on certain Vauxhall models the glow plug system is only designed to come on for a short while as a direct injection engine should start without glow plugs however after a few thousand miles the compression drops and the glow plugs need to be on for a longer period to compensate for the compression loss.As the glow plug system is entirely controlled by the ECU the answer is easy. The ECU software can be reprogrammed to switch the glow plugs on for longer

Bad bad bad idea to keep using easy start. It washes oil from the cylinder walls and causes engine wear, which results in the vehicle refusing to start without easy start. You could say it becomes addicted to the stuff.
When you try to start the car without it, or once it has started, is there any smoke, and if so, what colour?
Cheers

the trouble with easy start is that the engine gets addicted to the spray,as stupid as it sounds, ask any mechanic they will tell you the same.should only be used on cold winter days.easy start will ruin a good engine, all you can do is carry on using it as it WONT start with out it.

the reason your car won't start without a squirt of easy start is because it is very low on compression and needs major work you will need to have a rebore and new piston rings to bring your compression back up.

I need more specifics....
Is it the starter motor, connections or what your spraying..?
If the cars alarmed, opening the bonnet may be fooling the immobiliser. Add to question with specific details.
