The Yankees pitching staff has done very well as of late with out Clemens. His services will be appreciated due to the fact Hughes is hurt and Pavano is done this year.

Texas 10-1 ( Hughes had a no-hitter going )
Texas 4-3
Texas 5-2
Seattle 8-1 ( Wang had a perfect game going through 7 )
Seattle 5-0 ( The gave up 4 hits on Sunday )

Don't get it twisted. Clemens is not God's gift to baseball and he's not doing the Yankees a favor by playing nor his he their savior.

They've had pitching problems without him in the past and have done just fine.

The Rocket can save the Yankees season. It will take him a while to get back in the groove of playing baseball, especially pitching 6 and 7 innings a game. The Yankees have already dug themselves into too deep of a hole by purchasing too many hitters and not enough pitchers. Mussina, Petite, Wang won't be enough, especially with more than half of them battling injuries. Roger Clemens will win 13 games this year, I know that is a lot, but the Yankees have a much better hitting team than the Astros. In Houston, Roger Clemens went 13-8 despite just getting 3.5 runs a game when he pitched. (ranked 30th in run support) I agree with you on the Yankees amount of wins. With A-Rod stepping it up with the losses of many of their starters in the beginning of the year. Now with the returns of Mussina and Wang and the signing of Roger Clemens, I think that the Yankees will start a big run towards the playoffs. I believe future Hall of Fame pitcher, the "Rocket" can bring a lot of motivation to the Yankees, leading them to many victories. Final number of wins guess: 84.

Roger Clemens can not save the Yankees because he is the exact type of pitcher that they DONT need. He can only go for 5 to 6 innings per outting, which will just further stretch their already embarrassing bullpen. With the other starters being made up of Mussina, Pettite, and ailing Wang and Hughes, the Yankees really needed to get a pitcher that could go 7-8 innings. It won't matter if the Rocket gives up only 2 or 3 runs during his innings, because the bullpen is liable to give up 3-5 during the 7th and 8th. Clemens will only win 7 of his starts because of this, but will only get the official loss in 2 or 3. The Yankees will win 85 games, having a great summer run but a complete burnout in late August/early September when their aging arms and worn out bullpen finally shut down.

He won't save the Yankee season by himself because he only pitches once every 5 days. I think he'll win 11 games. He's got a better offense in NY than he did in Houston, but the real telling point is that the Yankees are going to need help for their bullpen sometime during the season otherwise they won't be going anywhere

I think its way too early to count them out yet. Although I'm not a Yankee fan, they have too much talent to play poorly all season. I see many negative comments about the Yankees, usually from Red Sox fans, but I seem to remember several years where the Red Sox, along with other teams, have blown large leads towards the end of the season to the Yankees.

I think he will defenitly help out that injured and not so good picthing staff. He is one of the best pitchers in MLB today, i think they signed him for way to much money but he will definitly throw some heat. Go yankees!
