The biggest thing the U.S. can do to restore its face globably would be to start working multilaterally again. While the U.S. is frowned upon now, people have not forgotten our good deeds in both world wars and what we stand for as a nation. It will take good faith in our part to regain a lot of the respect we squandered away by working unilaterally.

What are you talking about? Half of the inhabitants of the 3rd World are trying to get in here (been in a cab in any major city or to a farm lately). Just because a bunch of jealous Socialist countries don't like us does not mean our "stature" has been diminished, it only means that there are people out there who don't like us. And that will always be the case, it even was when Clinton was President and certainly when Carter and Johnson were. You need to go back to Kennedy and even then, the Communist countries didn't think to highly of us.

Withdraw from international politics as much as possible. Don't espouse any policies in which we tell others what to do, or how to run their countries (even though many of them may need it). And if we DO do something on the international stage, ask the UN first (Yes, I know they're slimeballs) as we did before invading Afghanistan. (Notice we're not universally hated for our policies in that country.)

After a decade or so, as worldwide tempers cool, we can try to assert ourselves again. Cautiously. But use multilateralism whenever possible. (Yes I know that means we won't get as much done -- or should I leave out the "as"?)

Repeal the Patriot Act. Hand Bush and Cheney over to the proper Iraqi and/or Afghani authorities for war crimes and crimes against humanity, do away with the Federal Reserve and let America print its own currency. Cut Israel and Africa's monthly welfare check. Put our resources into America instead of a "global community".

You answered your own question. The US will get back to its high stature when bush leaves office. The next step will be up to the new President, no matter who it is.
