I absolutely hate the idea of abortions, but
I think they should be legal.
Old cliche: You cannot legislate morality.
Simply put: Society has no right to dictate what a
person does to their own body, be it suicide, drugs
or abortion. Yes, there are implications and
society has a vested interest in the outcome, but
the personal invasion far outweighs the flighty
nature of law and religion.
If we did not believe that was true, than society
would also have the ability to dictate who CANNOT
have children - and nobody is talking about that.
However, the state has an extremely vested interest
in controlling who has children. If children are born
to richer parents, the state is less likely to have to
pay to feed them or pay for their medical care. Can
you imagine the outcry if we said that nobody with
an income less than $50000 could have a child?
Moreover, it has very very little ability to enforce
its restrictions on what the individual does to their
own body. If someone wants to commit suicide
badly enough, you can't stop them. We haven't
solved the drug problem in the U.S. And yes, you
can give yourself an abortion, though it is very
very dangerous.
In short, making it illegal simply makes it more
dangerous. I have no interest in going back to the
"bad old days" pre Roe V. Wade where people
were coming with massive infections from badly
performed abortions. It will happen.
If a woman doesn't want to have a baby, that is her
right. Period. The state has no right whatsoever
to force her to do so. Period.
That she would want to terminate/nullify/murder/slaughter
an unborn innocent is between her and her maker.

I am for keeping it legal and controlled. Completley on the basis that for the time it was illegal in this country women would attempt to give themselves one or go to people who could barely be considered a doctor often resulting in internal bleeding infection, and death. I don't think that any one who has ever had an abortion can honestly say the act didn't bother them. It is an unimaginably diffucult decision.
However I am a man and will never have to make the decision. So I also believe that any man that has a view against it or for it needs to leave it alone. It is the one issue we shouldn't touch.

Abortion is a good idea when termination of the pregnancy will save the life or health of the patient. It's also apropriate in cases called 'selective reduction' which increases the odds of a multiple pregnancy resulting in at least one live birth, and for other legitimate medical purposes.
I am pro-death.
Legal. Even though I accept that 'human life' could be argued to begin at almost any point after conception, carrying a pregnancy to term is a non-trivial risk to the mother, and taking such a risk to save a life is heroism. You can't legislate heroism. Though I see nothing wrong with vocally encouraging it.

I think that abortion should definitely be legal. Whos to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her own body? I mean really. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting an abortion in general, but I don't think it should be used as a form of birth control continuously.

I dont think it should be illegal, although restrictions should be placed on it. I know a girl who is 21 and has had 3 abortions..this would have all been on her medical records, and I bet they still would not hesitate in giving her a fourth. Abortion is too easily seen nowadays as a form of contraception, only difference being that it is carried out AFTER pregnancy.
I believe that it is only acceptable where a woman has been raped, and continuing the pregnancy would be greatly psychologically damaging for the woman and her family/partner. Also, where a young teenager 13/14 becomes pregnant, although they should not even be having sex in the first place! Any other situation, although it is personal choice, I do not agree with. This has nothing to do with religion, as I am not religious, just morals.

It should remain legal. I don’t know who I am to presume to know what’s best for an individual woman and her family when it comes to carrying a pregnancy to term. Pregnancy can be a life threatening condition for a woman, and in this modern age we have forgotten that. In the old days before obstetrics, women routinely died in childbirth.
In the third world where they don’t have the doctors and hospitals we do here women still die. I think that if a woman has chronic condition or health problem that develops during the pregnancy, steps should be taken to save her life. Occasional one of those steps might be an abortion. Who would object to that? Yes, some people may say she should put the fetus first ot she should be willing to die, but who are they to make such a serious decision for her?
Lastly, I think grown women have the brains and judgment to decide for themselves whether or not they want to be mothers and there could be any set of circumstances where a woman finds herself pregnant but unable or unwilling to carry to term. She should make that decision. Not the state.
Would you say you are a citizen with full constitutional rights if for instance the state decided to monitor who you could date? What about if they decided to throw you in jail if you don’t report your miscarriage within 12 hours? Preposterous? No. This was introduced as legislation in Virginia. Luckily it was struck down. What about if you were denied birth control, the ability to limit your family size? Crazy? Oh, no. It’s the 21st Century and some pharmacists have refused to fill prescriptions for birth control pills because they feel they’re the same as having an abortion.
Wake up, baby girl. There is a movement afoot of fanatics who are against any type of rights or autonomy for women, especially reproductive rights. Don’t buy into it. Too many women worked too hard to get us to where we are today. Quite basically this is what I believe: as women, we have a right to bodily sovereignty and integrity. Just as no one can strap you down without your consent and take a kidney, neither should you be forced to carry a pregnancy you don’t want. That goes for the reverse as well.
If a woman can’t make one of the most basic decisions about her life, she is a second class citizen, period. Do you want to be a second class citizen?

im really indecessive on the subject. i feel its a personal choice. one that i would probly not make, then again i was responsible and took my birth controll. i think teens need to be responsible if there wasnt the abortion option.mabe kids would be smarter and slow down significantly but not completely. there will alwayse be a dumb kid out there somewhere. mabe if they took abortion of the table there would be less dumb kids. i dont understand why they didnt take birth control in the first place. i know its only 99% sure to work but still thats alot of kids that wouldnt have kids by now.
however i do not feel people should attack planned parent hood for this all. planed parent hood helps many teens in obtaining birth controll and teaching about sex education rarely does planed parent hood perform abortions like many missconceive that they do. there are actually many hospitals and fancy clinics that perform moor abortions than pland parent hood has.

I think abortions are bad and personally are against them. However, if a women or girl is raped and wishes not to bare the child of the horrible man. I don't think she should be expected to have his child unless she can handle it. No one should ever have the say so in that situation. I think abortions should be legal and remain an option for women. Many fathers just leave anyways.

I am for people being more responsible in preventing pregnancies.
I am for politicians not making this a political issue when it is clear that Roe v. Wade will never be overturned.
I am against the act of having an abortion, but I do not feel there should be a law against it.

My Opinion and this is my opinion only. Abortion should only be performed during the first tri-mester and only in the event of rape, incest or danger to the mothers life. After the 1st tri-mester it should never be done unless a threat to the mothers health exists. Abortion should NOT be used as a form of birth control. Again, this is only my opinion, you need to make this decision on your own. Good Luck and may you make the right decision.
