Doesn't really hurt bad at all, you are put on an anesthetic and then suction is used to suck out the fetus. All you feel is light pains and cramps. Afterwords, your vaginal area may be sore for a few days due to the insertion of the suction in there. But its DEFINETLY a walk in the park compared to labor. Also, don't listen to those people who call is murder: have humans degraded themselves so badly that we need to treat balls of cells(embryo/fetus) better than we treat other human beings?I hope that this helped I wish your friend good luck with whatever her situation is.

I hope you mean the first 12 WEEKS. I don't know how bad it hurts, but if her situation is bad enough for an abortion, does it really matter? In my personal opinion, an abortion of any type will hurt for a lifetime. I have talked to several adult women who have had abortions as teens, and only one out of four said they were fine with having the abortion, and would have done it again if they were in the same situation. I believe the only circumstances that warrant an abortion are incest, rape, and if the pregnancy will put the mother or baby's life at risk. Adoption is an option, and there are so many people who are successful, and can give a baby a great life, who cannot have one of their own. Check out all of the options for your friend, and make sure the decision she makes is one that she can live with for the rest of her life.

Labor may be more painful than an abortion, but real women can deal with the pain, and the epidural does wonders!

your friend can e-mail me directly if she wants...I had an abortion last year and honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. You need to have someone with you when you get it done because you are not allowed to drive etc...I actually felt fine so I did drive my mom afterwards...there will be some cramping and bleeding but for me nothing out of the ordinary...I don't want to say too much on here because I will only get a lot of thumb downs like I always do...

but the bottom line is this...she will be asleep when it happens...she won't feel a thing...it won't be that bad...I wish her luck...

I am sure you mean the first 12 weeks. She will most likely be sedated and given anesthesia and shouldn't feel more than mild-moderate cramping. I'll tell you this, it hurts a heck of a lot less than labor pains, so tell her to take her pick

Tell her not to worry, it really doesn't hurt. You are not conscious during the procedure and afterwards the cramps and bleeding are very minor. She'll feel fine, no more discomfort than a light period.

Lol hun, do you mean 12 weeks? They wont do an abortion if its under the time period, and when they do it they give medication for the pain.

Your friend may not feel very much physical pain when it happens but she will feel psychological pain for the rest of her life.

Encourage your friend to let some couple who would do anything for a baby to be given that chance.
