Mine was 5 1/2 weeks early & I was told that as far as development they have two ages that Dr.s look at. Their actual age for shots & stuff & their adjusted age which they use for determining when they should be hitting certain developmental milestones.
That said just because your daughter was early it doesn't mean she is going to hit her milestones late it just means that she MAY hit them later, so if she does don't freak out! lol...
As far as feeding solids I think she should still be ok to eat them at the same [actual] age as other babies but your Dr. can tell you if he or she thinks she is ready for sure.

My baby was five weeks early. The doctors told us in the beginning, that his first five weeks were like negative weeks, as he wasn't even supposed to be here yet. Then, once he passed the five week mark, we were subtracting those five weeks to determine what he should be treated as, and what to expect from him.
He is seven months old now, and we haven't done that for a while, he has caught up to all the other babies that are his age and were born on time.
I depends upon whether the baby has caught up developmentally to where she is supposed to be. There is such a vast window for teething, that I'm sure it doesn't matter. Feeding her solids would depend on whether she is ready, i.e. - can she hold her head up, can she accept the spoon and swallow the food, or do you think her tongue would still get in the way and push it back out? Talking is too far off, by then, she should be where she is supposed to be.

She could possibly have gas, my son has gas and cries alot because of it. But other than that he doesn't. Babies usually do sleep alot. From what i've heard from everyone i know most babies sleep and sleep and sleep for the first few months of their lives. My stepbrothers son is a sleeper like your baby, he is only a week older than my son and he is MUCH bigger. BUT my son is ALWAYS up and is more alert. They'r both very different. My son has a bigger head but a longer neck, so him holding his head up is harder. While on the other hand the other baby is fatter and can hold his head better because his neck isn't as long. Every baby is different, your baby is probably just growing... Try to keep her up and maybe she will sleep better at night. Try gas medicine like, Gripe Water which is supposed to help with colic pains.

Well, my baby was a month early, but she started teething right around 4 months old. But, she didn't start walking until she was 15 months. So, if she is a little bit behind, don't worry about it. Just keep checking with your doctor and making sure she is getting the right nutrition, etc.

Hi there
Corrected ages count up to 2 years, so yes she is really 6.5 months. Luckily 6 weeks is such a small amount that nce she is passed 1 year it wil make no difference at all

If she is 6 weeks early, then you'll be look for the milestones of a baby six weeks younger than your baby, so start looking at the milestones of a 5 month old.
The good thing is, that there is a wide range of "normal" and for the most part, your baby will be on track. :) You should talk to your pediatrician about what to look for. He/She will have literature for you to read on the subject.
Good luck.

yes doctors use their adjusted age for milestones...so she is 6.5 mos old. i had 2 preemies one at 6weeks early and one at 9 weeks early. they reached their milestones faster than my oldest who was full term except for teething......according to adjusted age my son walked at 5.5 months and my daughter at 6.5 ....my full term baby didnt walktill 15 months. they were both like 8 months before they got their first tooth though and their big sister and baby brother who were both full term had one tooth at 3 months.
