i moved into a house about 8 months ago where the water in the bath tub goes out extremely slow. the water everywhere else goes out "normal" i have tried several differnt kinds of drain and clog cleaner and even tried putting it in ALL the drains to see if that would help but doesnt. (it is a house that was built in the 1950"s) have seen lateral line cleaner and wondered if i should try that or if anyone has any suggestions of what i should do or try or if i need to call a plumber?

Go to Lowes and purchase a plastic tool called a "Zip-it", for about $3-$4. Insert into your drain and remove hair. It's that simple! Don't use liquid drain cleaners, as most don't work, and can harm your pipes. Good luck!

There is an obstruction of some sort. To avoid calling a plumber, remove any stoppers in the drain. Hair can be removed at this point by using a pair of needle nose pliers. Be prepared, a wad of hair that has been there for a while can look like long lost Fluffy the cat. No kidding. A huge amount of hair could be clogging the drain and is no doubt very nasty. That is why plumbers are so well paid. If you don't find the problem there the local hardware store will sell you a small hand held auger. Remove the overflow plate to the tub, (shiny metal disk with two screws) and auger the drain. When you remove the plate look to see if the trip lever to the tub has not rotted and fallen in the drain. You can usually remove the plunger with pliers. good luck. do not use chemicals to unclog drains its a waste of money.

Call a plumber. I had this happen in my kitchen last winter. The more water you run into it, the more it backs up. They just auger out the drain and only takes 15 - 30 minutes and was about $150.

Good Luck!

I would call a plumber. So many things can cause slow drains. Hair in the trap. Hair in the stopper. Just plain old gunk. Where is the bathroom? If on the main level, it may be as simple as not having enough downforce for it to flow faster. Main level sinks will not have this problem since they are not mounted on the ground. You can drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out. If the usual suspects (drain opener) have not helped, call in the professional.

From what I read it seems as if that section of pipe is a bit clogged. Call the plumber. I recommend calling a couple of plumbers and getting a quote from each one. Don't choose the cheapest, or the most expensive. Also ask around. Get recommendations from friends, family members, and co-workers. Gud Luk!

The "P" trap under the bath tub could be holding soap, hair, dead skin, etc. I recommend calling the Roto Rooter man. He can run a snake down the drain and clean it from the opening in the bath tub.
Never use chemicals to unclog a drain. They can boil over or splash back, causing injury to anyone dumb enough to look down to see what is going on.

Very possible you have a pipe called orange something or another, it is basically roofing material. Used a lot during this period. Many cities have programs to remove this particular kind of pipe with updated PVC or copper piping. Check into that. Also, if you just bought the home, you may have a 1 year warranty on it. This won't cover all of your expense of having Roto rooter come out, but it will cover about half. They can clean out the pipes and let you know what kind of pipes you have and what particular damage there may be.

Try a plunger. Fill the tub with water until in covers the plunger, put the plunger over the drain, and SLOWLY push down until the plunger is compressed. The pull up hard, to suck the goop and hair up. Try to grab the hair as it comes out to prevent it from going back down.

Do this until no more gunk comes out, then fill the tub again and PUSH hard this time, try it again pushing and pulling until the drain is clear.

I watched it and concept both significant actors were very good. Wilfred Bramble got here across as lonely and under no circumstances with the flexibility to come back to words together with his gender even as Harry H Corbett got here across as truly a huge head. don't understand if both were real, in spite of the indisputable fact that the programme became very exciting. It became also unhappy that they couldn't get any more effective artwork except for Steptoe and Son.

At my local Ace Hardware, one can buy sulphuric acid drain opener. It's those only things that works well on stubborn hair and soap clogs, like you might have in your tub drain pipe.

Read the directions carefully however.
