I don't think 32 is that old to be having a baby....especially in our modern society where women are opting to have careers first and then have their families. 32 is actually considered "normal" you do have a slight increase of downs syndrome as you get older, but the most dramatic jump in percentage won't occur until you are 35. Other than that, the only things you MAY be at an increased risk for would be gestational diabetes if you are currently overweight or have been overweight by a significant amount in the past. Pre-eclampsia unfortunately doesn't come with a set of risk factors but those are the most common problems associated with pregnancy. I think your baby will be fine. Congrats!

I've known many women to have babies that were more than 10 years older than you. If you are healthy, and take care of yourself while you are pregnant, you shouldn't have too many concerns. 32 is definitely not old. I've heard a lot of older mothers say that they would recommend having a baby later in life to everyone! lol There is always a chance for problems, whether older or younger...but if you're healthy and you take care of yourself, you should be ok. good luck!

No, definatley not!! My parents had me when they were 32 and I am now 25 pregnant with my first!! (I'm 33 weeks)

To answer your question about problems, I'm sure you will be fine, women have been having babies for years and even way older than you.

They say the older you get it betters your chances for some birth defects such as down syndrome, but I did the research on that and most women that have babies with down syndrome are under 30.

All babies are wonderful even those with disabilities. Just
take care of yourself and enjoy your baby when he/she gets here. Good luck to you.

I had my youngest when I was 38. Good friends of ours had their first when she was 40. Mid-30's is when doctors begin to consider a woman higher risk. There are always risks for problems regardless of your age. I developed Gestational Diabetes with my youngest, but I was able to control it with a special meal plan. I don't think it is too late in life for a baby at 32. Congratulations!

I had my first at 35 and everything went great. Had the most wonderful pregnancy and labor/delivery w/o meds. Followed it up w/ twins at 36 so, no I think when your reaching closer to 40 you really have to consider the higher rates of birth defects.
