If they pay sex change operations to the tune of about $100,000 shouldn't they also pay for facelifts and liposuctions, beauty treatments, penis and boob enlargements, and hair dye. And shouldn't they pay to reverse the operation when boredom comes knocking? I can only assume the answer is yes.

Yes, they are completely insane. If someone wants to have a sex change, they should go on the Discovery Channel and let them pay for it. Insurance premiums are sky-rocketing, and I wonder why?

Sex Reassignment Surgery is nothing like a face lift, liposuction or any of the procedures you mention. It is a psychological and physical health issue. To have health insurance cover the surgery will help the City in the long run. The person who has the surgery is more likely to remain as a dedicated employee and be more productive than if they were forced to remain in the sex they didn't identify with. I think it is a good idea and fosters only good employee relations as well as decent human rights. Think about it logically rather than ignorantly. You misquote the amount the health insurance covers - it's only $50.000, not $100,00 as you claim. Before you draw conclusions be sure you have all your facts straight,
