I gained about 28 pounds in my pregnancy and lost the weight in just six weeks (actually less... at my 6 week appt. I weighed less than I did at my first OB appt)
Now, whatever you do, DO NOT DIET during your pregnancy. Yes, you will gain weight, but it does not mean that you will be overweight afterwards. Make sure you eat enough calories, make sure you gain the right amount of weight. Make sure you do not starve yourself because that will mean that you will be starving your baby!!! I know that you'll be concerned about your weight gain and that is fine, but do not diet. Eat enough for your baby to grow. You will lose the weight afterwards just fine. Not all of the weight gained during pregnancy is maternal fat stores. You will also gain water weight, the fetus' weight, the weight of the placenta, the weight of the amniotic fluid, the weight of the growing uterus, etc. You will be just fine and you will lose the weight very easily if you eat a healthy diet. Where women run into the problem where they get the "second chin" and gain tons of weight is when they follow the rule "eating for two" and they overeat. You do not need to eat for two, yes you'll need to increase your calorie intake, especially toward the end when the baby gains fat before delivery, but where women run into the problem where they have problem losing weight is when they don't eat a good diet.
I ended up gaining a lot of weight at the end--about 4 pounds a week--because of retaining fluids. It was awful! but the weight does go away and before you know it, you'll be back in your old clothes. Just eat right, stay healthy, and after delivery eat right, and start an exercise regime after a few weeks of recovery.
Good luck, you'll be ok! I promise! :)

Some weight gain is healthy for pregnancy, about 20 pounds for a single pregnancy. The baby & the amniotic sac make up some of this weight.
No, pregnancy doesn't always result in a second chin, in fact most pregnancies probably don't result in a second chin.
How you look afterwards varies for each pregnancy as a woman's stomach & body stretches for the increased pregnant belly.
Also, a c-section will make it harder to get back into shape after the pregnancy because you have to wait longer before you can start excersizing again.
I used walking, The Firm DVDs & occasional workouts at the gym to get back into shape & it took me about 7 months to get back into shape.

Well you gain weight no matter what during a pregnancy. Some people gain less than others though. After their delivery they go back to around the same weight they were before, but then after a while some might gain some weight, while others dont. It just depends on your body type and whatever else.

If you eat well and exercise, you don't have to gain much weight.
You won't look exactly the same as before, at least not for awhile.
Second chins are not inevitable though carrying extra water weight near the end of a pregnancy is common. It comes off quickly though.
It's all about eating a well balanced diet and (appropriate) exercise.

Are you talking about during the pregnancy?
My first pregnancy, I started out around 125 lbs. I gained 25, and was feeling like a blimp by the time I gave birth. But, within a few months, I was back down to my previous size, and then continued to lose weight and girth. I dropped down to 110 lbs (but now I'm pregnant again!)
It is totally possible! I swear it was the breastfeeding, although I'm also very active. I dance around the house with my baby and walk her in the stroller almost every day (yesterday for 3 hours). Just keep active and don't overeat.

I had one friend that was in her pre-pregnancy clothes the day after she gave birth. Others that got real chunky. Gaining some weight is not as important as being healthy and happy! It all depends on your body type, right?! I have also heard that you gain less weight for the first baby then if you have a second or third... not sure if that is true.

I gained 30 pounds with both kids, lost 20 in delivery and went home in my normal jeans both times, losing the last ten pounds over the next few weeks. And I never had a double chin, I was all baby and boobs both times. No stretch marks either. Everyone is different.

If you gain a reasonable amount of weight (20-30 pounds) you will not have near as much work to do to look good after giving birth. A double chin is not inevitable, just eat healthy and exercise and you will gain pregnancy weight, not a bunch of fat.

Not every woman has to gain weight after you have a baby...What makes you look like you've gained weight is the skin that has been stretched from having the baby, so therefore it has nowhere to go...If you watch what you eat, therefore, smaller portions=less calories, and do abdominal exercises 2 times a day for about 5 months, you will have your smokin' hot high school body back...I can guarantee it 99.9%....Good Luck...Hope this helps
