I am not sure what sort of weight you are talking about. If you are talking about holding a baby so it can stand on it's own legs, then its fine.

Infants are able to hold their own weight on their legs from birth. It can't cause any damage. Their muscles are weak so they won't be able to hold themselves up for long and they certainly can't do it by themselves but otherwise, as long as they are properly supported, it's no big deal.

Yes. There is no problem providing resistance to the baby's muscles... they will only get stronger. Babies at that age will push with their legs and pull on things with their hands. This is a natural behavior to strengthen those muscles, but you can help by playing walking games and giving them rattles and heavier objects to play with.

Once the baby can hold his head up, you might consider putting him in a jumper! I have the Fisher Price jungle theme jumperoo for my son, he loves it, and he's getting very strong!

absolutly. weight bearing helps to form the hip sockets. i used to work with disabled children. wt. bearing was part of their daily habilitation. some that could not physically do it wound up with dislocated hips. while it isn't a neccesity, wt bearing for a baby that age is not harmful. just make sure you hold on to them in your lap.

Make sure that if he/she wants to sit or stop putting pressure on their legs that they will be able to. They should not be forced and they should be able to stop when they choose to.
