i know how to pay for a copy and get the license allready. i was just asking if they send you one automaticly without you paying for a copy. also the insurance said they would cover me from the date we got married but my doctors office wants the medical card right away.

You have to ask for a copy and give them money.

You have to pay for a copy. Go to the county website and request a copy be sent to you. The fees vary depending on the county. It usually takes a few weeks to get to you. For the insurance, call them and tell them the situation ASAP. Find a sympathetic ear to get you emergency coverage BEFORE you go into labor. You should have gotten a certificate (though not a legal one) from the minister that will suffice for now, but you can't use that to change your name on any official documents (Social Security, Driver's License). The insurance will want one from the county that is more official. If you live close to the county where you got married, you may be able to go right in and get a copy in person but check out their website to see for sure. To be clear, you need the County Clerk's Office in the county where you got married.

They usually send you one and you are supposed to get a copy on the day you get married. I would suggest calling up the place you get married or the county office where you got married and they can at least give you proof of marriage so you can get on the insurance. You actually could have been on his insurance this whole time.

You can generally order a copy from the county court house for a small processing fee of about $10.

You get a certificate when you get married but if you want the one you put on the wall you have to mail in a request with a payment..I got married in Vegas and I had to order the one for the wall it was only $10.00

You will need to go down to your city hall to request the certificate. It can also be done by mail but it does cost you money either way. Just call your local city hall and ask for the marriage license dept. they will fill you in on all you need to know.

Call your county's court house and they will have the original copy there and they will make you a copy for no charge. Thats how it is in Iowa anyway.
