why di some men wear a earring on their left ear instead of both ears?

Where did that originate from?

I think it was some sort of fashion statement, probably in the in the mid 80s to the mid 90s. Rappers, r & b singers and other performers started the trend but of course fashion changes and they started to wear it in both earrings. I think there are a few guys that still where an earring in their left ear and that's strange for me because it's not "in" anymore! hope that helps a little!
