Are French voters smarter than American voters in last years mid-terms?

The French government was not in step with the French people. It's really that simple. Crime and unemployment are rampant, Muslim immigrants are a big problem in that they are unwilling to assimilate, and they will pose a big problem to the country in years to come unless they do so. (Before anybody accuses me of being anti-Muslim... this problem is happening everywhere to a small extent but is a terrific problem in France. Do some reading before you flame me.) Chirac has been unable or unwilling, depending on your point of view, to do anything about any of it. For example, when unemployment hit an all time high, he lowered France's work week to 35 hours to force employees to hire more people rather than trying to fix the root cause.
The French people think less of themselves than Americans and Britons think of them. That's pretty telling for a Western nation, one that once carried a lot of credibility and weight in the world. They are no longer an influential power, and are tired of it.

In short, they want their country back from the left.

Amazing isn't it? I think it's wonderful. It shows that there are more to the French than those who live in Paris.... The hard working people of France got sick of those Liberal pukes representing their country... It's about time.

the social climate goes in cycles. Italy was talking about putting a conservative back in too.

While France's version of a conservative is kinda moderate thats pretty conservative for there.

Its a grass is greener cycle, people dont like how things are so they switch their leaders.

We are doing it too.. switched to dems... they will raise some taxes and accomplish little and then people will vote back in the repubs again. Its predictable.

All you hear from our liberals is how liberal the new French guy is.....I say the less socialism the better and if he is a "liberal" then welcome him with open arms because he is going to CRUSH the social welfare programs in France.
