i mean, the guy that played borat was funny as hell, but come on, do you really think he could play freddie mercury. is this some kind of blasphemy?

i agree he does look kind of like the later freddie with the moustach and all, but i cant imagine him playing a serious role.

Sacha Baron Cohen is a talented actor - he stayed in character as Borat the ENTIRE time he was in the US, the only thing he did was take his fake moustache off at night. You have to be pretty intelligent to play a character that stupid.
As for his musical ability, that remains to be seen...

I'm having a hard time believing you all believe what you're sayng.
DJ Bonebrake, do you really think his lack of songwriting skills would make a difference in his performance? And have you guys ever heard of dubbing? If he can't sing (and who out there can really sing like F.M.?) then they can dub F.M.'s voice into SBC's performance. S.B.C. sure looks like F.M., just give him some buck teeth.
As far as a comedian playing a serious role, who back in the 80's would have ever predicted that goofy Tom Hanks would win TWO Oscars and deserve a few more? What about Mork--did you ever see him seriously playing drama well? (Mork=Robin Williams for the uninformed.) I'm sure there are several other examples.
Actors are actors and if they're any good they can pull off drama--comedy is what's really tough. So, yea, if he truly is going to play F.M. then I'm all for it.

He could do it. He does resemble Freddie Mercury.
As far as him even coming close to the voice of Freddie Mercury, and the songwriting talent, I'm skeptical, but maybe hollywood thinks they can smooth that part over.

Borat....was one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen.....If he plays Freddie...I will be appalled...Freddy should be played by.........that big guy in Everybody loves Raymond...

I heard it was between him and Johnny Depp, looks wise Borat would be better.. but we haven't seen serious acting from him. As for Johnny Depp, anything he does.. its good.
