This is an excellent question. It depends on the type of abortion you have had and if or if not you have any scaring. If you had a D&C there may be some scarring around the cervical OS (opening) which could be a clue to a previous abortion. If you have had an induced abortion with IV medication only, a doctor may not be able to tell. Why would you not want your gynecologist to know? It is important that your doctor knows your entire medical history. Hope this helps.

DUH - you think a doctor isn't going to notice when some other doctor goes scraping around your insides? HELLO! If he DOESN'T notice - you should find another doctor. It seems like you're ashamed of what you did - maybe next time thinking before you do something is the best action. Not trying to be mean, but I see so many people trying to take the easy way out - then when it turns out to be not as easy as they thought, they try again to find the easiest way to get out of a new problem. Grow up and face reality. And I'm getting off my soap box now

Yes. Because of the Scaring mostly. Also, it's on your permenant record, which can be gotten by a doctor through your social security number.
