Had a little car when I was in high school and the gas gage did not work... I ran out of gas in that SOB at least once a month!
This is a funny story, once I was out on lunch break driving around with friends and went to the ATM machine to get money for gas... and I ran out right at the ATM... sigh, I had to leave it there and catch a ride to school and my car was blocking the ATM so they called my parents (because the car was registered to my dad) But, have not since I got rid of it.... :P

Yes.
I was driving to town with my nephew. I forget where we were going. The car stopped near my church. There were cars in the parking lot, so I figured someone there might help us. We walked across the lawn and went into the kitchen of the church. After they all laughed at me for not watching the gas gauge, one of the ladies there drove us to a gas station so we could purchase a container and some gas.

Yes, it was horrible. It was last year and it was REALLY hot outside, I was driving up this BIG hill and then I notice when I pushed the gas peddle I was slowing down. Then I began to roll backward (no one behind me thankfully.) I was able to control it and backed/rolled into a driveway. My grandma had to bring me one of those little red containers w/gas in it.
It wasn't my fault I ran out of gas though. The arrow was alittle bit after the quarter tank line. It shouldn't have run out of gas...but it did...

no,i haven't. not to piss anyone off,but my god - how can you do that? i have always thought that.if i am low on gas,i will stop and get some,or stay home.i plan ahead like - will i pass another station? etc etc - the only time i can say maybe that is OK is if you were low,and on the way to an emergency and were upset so not thinking clearly.i think there is just no excuse for it.i worked with a girl who ran out of gas like 3 times a week, she would put $1-$2 in,then run out again the next day.i told her not to ask me to take her to the gas station again - so she can put a smelly gas can in my vehicle, just because she is an idiot.if you are broke,i guess stay home.
sorry to rant.that just irks me.

Many times, during the second world war when we only had ration stamps for 4 gallon per week.
Since then only a few times, when gas gauge didn't work.
