Are there any diseases i could catch from having this sort of contact or is it simply best advised i see my GP for a blood test?

anyones hands can carry germs, not just those from 3rd world countries, get a grip...and that's why mom always told you to wash your hands before you eat, and keep your fingers out of your mouth, eyes and nose. Your hands have to transport the germs into your body.
Don't waste your money or time seeing your GP, there is no blood test for what you got......

I can't believe you're asking that. How sad. Too bad this person didn't have gloves on... they shook your hand as well. Did he/she know you were disease free just because you are from wherever it is you are from? ANYONE from any neighborhood, or country can carry disease.

good grief. disease isn't passed that way you silly boob. If it bothers you, get some hand sanitizer and use it after shaking hands with anyone. Unless you were bleeding and he was bleeding and you shook bloody hands, you have little to worry about.
