I have two:
Paul Davis - I Go Crazy
This song with the gorgeous keyboards was the reigning chart longetivity champ, dominating 1977 while only reaching #6 but hitting the Top 20 three times. Knocked out White Christmas by Bing Crosby. Was knocked out by Michael Jackson's Thriller in 1983. Paul was in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar as....Paul!
Michael Johnson - Almost Like Being In Love
This 1978 rarity was born as record execs tried to fit a round peg into a square hole - taking the understating Johnson's deep, rich vocals into a danceable smooth jazzy single, an old standard made famous by Frank Sinatra. Johnson eventually went country with solid success in 1986. NOTE: Unplugged version is even better.
