Greece is beautiful, it has some awesome places, not only the beaches. There are places for tourists to see- ancient ruins, museums. The food there is also very good. If you go up in the mountains there are also charming towns. Once you've been to Greece you'll always want to go back (as long as you don't stay in Athens the whole time and get out of the cities... not that the cities are bad). Have a nice trip!

I've been to both and I love Greece more than anywhere else. There's plenty to do but the islands & the beaches are definately a big part of it. It's too cold in the winter and you're not beach people anyway so I would opt for Spain. I went in February & there was tons to do. You can keep busy for at least a week in Madrid. There are tons of museums, a huge plaza, lots of shopping, the palace etc.

I am greek, have a vacation home in the center of Chalkidiki and also a not "beach" people! I like going to Epirus, a district in Greece with mountains and pure tradition, with incredible view, strange rocks and trees and small traditional greek villages full of stone and traditional greek pies and original foods. Most people think that the style of islands is the only tradition that Greece has to offer, but very wrong if you think that these built in white islands were under Italian posetion for centuries. So, these small rock villages in mountain region of Greece, that were dominated by Turks, but Turks never lived there because they were very poor and in the mountains, have very much to offer. Believe me.
Ioannina (large city) is the main destination to go there. Then, search for Zagorohoria, that is this gathering of villages (Tsepelovo,Kapesovo,Papigo, Konitsa,Monodendri,Vallia Calda are just a few names). In Konitsa you can make some strange sports (this with parasute and with eagle falling, I don't know its name),rafting, kayak,it is famous and popular for competitions in Greece. In Monodendri and Papigo you can see the Vicos gorge (deep hole in the mountain), that is the second most deep in the world after a gorge in Usa. Claimbing, hiking you can make in every village of this region. I went there many times. I wish I could show you the thousands of fotos we took there.
There are also other destinations in Peloponnisos (Stemnitsa,Dimitsana,Andritsaina, Kalavrita we went last Cristmas for sky).
Another place (GORGEOUS) is Meteora (search in google and see!). There you can see monasteries in the top of extrimely large rocks that looks like chapinions, because there was see there in the prehistoric times.
November and December is a high season for these places (Epirus, Meteora and Peloponnisos) and so if you d like to go you should check it early.
But if you want to Spain, I think it is also a good idea. Spain is more cosmopolitan, with arabic palaces.
The choice is yours, as well as the vacation.
Hope I was helpfull.Bye!

Greece, although famous for its islands, is mostly a mountainous mainland with beautiful picturesque villages and ski centres (like Zagorochoria or Pelion or Delphi), combined with archaeology (Delphi) and magnificent landscapes (the huge Meteora rocks, on top of which are old moasteries). Athens is great at that time of year, so I deinitely recommend Greece. Stay in Athens for 2-3 days, and then go to one or two of the above mentioned destinations! If you go to Delphi, don't forget to visit the nearby byzantine monastery of Hosios Lukas.

i hate to say this but if you are not beach people and are travelling at December i would say Spain. Madrid and Barcelona are much more interesting than any Greek city...
