I have had a comet goldfish since the winter and now he has a big red spot on his back,what should i do???

It's most likely a bacterial infection, but it's impossible to say without more details about the fish and how the spot looks. For an external bacterial infection I would suggest you treat with Maracyn or Maracyn 2.

take it to the vet or something and find out whats wrong.
