this is probs sounding a bit stupid but i just got a baby rabbit 3 days ago... he is good as gold and i love him to bits, cant stand to leave him on a day time and whenever i am home he is out and running around close to me, the thing is he's eating the food that i eat...macdonalds..he loves it...chips and chicken nuggets, even when i dont offer him it he just jumps in the bag looking for them, i have bought him all fresh green veg and carrots and cucumber and apple which he does eat but he will eat my muslie, rice crispies, chicken nuggets and chips and even a cheesy crisp. obviously i'm not feeding him this all the time but is it ok to give it to him every so often? i was just wondering cuz i love to spoil him but i dont wanna be doing any damage to his insides.

by the way... i am not fat and i dont eat macdonalds everyday, i've only ever given him like about a centimetre of a chip and a nugget its not like i was feeding him loads and loads and thats why i asked the question in the first place otherwise i would have just carried on doing it, i am living in turkey and i saved my rabbit from being crammed in a tiny cage at a pet shop with about 10 other baby bunnies, i cant find hay or pellet food and all he was getting fed at the pet store was lettuce leaves so thats why i wanted to spoil him a little, thanks for the questions which help me and not just criticise me.

Rabbits are worse than dogs when it comes to begging. Mitzy will eat anything at all, including ham. Sugary treats will make your rabbit fat, and obese rabbits have all kinds of health problems. Spoil him with piece of banana (about 1/2 an slice) once a day, or a slice of apple. Commercial rabbit foods, like seed bars , that you find at the store aren't that good for him, so they should only be given sparsely. Just what ever you do, don't give him things like cheese crisps. Rabbits have very sensitive digestive tracts.

Here is an awesome site about what to feed your bunny! http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/GI_diseases/Food/feeding_en.pdf

That's not a good idea. All the veggies and other stuff you are giving the rabbit could give it diahrrea, also because they are high in energy (even the veggies) they will make it fat. A rabbit's regular diet consists mainly of protein and fiber. You are giving it a bunch of carbohydrates, starches, and sugars. Those are not good for it.

Stick to the rabbit pellets and water. If you want to give it a snack give it a half slice of bread a day or some timothy hay.

I could go into more details about how all of that is bad, but I won't give a lecture on it.

I own both guinea pigs and rabbits. They eat similar, but not the same. Guinea pigs shouldn't eat rabbits pellets. They should eat pellets made for guinea pigs. They eat alfalfa and timothy hay like rabbits. Some veggies and fruits my piggies like are cucumber, celery, carrots, and romaine lettuce. They eat apple and banana sometimes too. Just make sure to remove the core of the apple and the strings from the celery. I don't know if a guinea pig can have yogurt or not. I wouldn't risk it. I haven't heard of anyone feeding yogurt to a piggie. I also have never heard of a honey stick. But guinea pigs aren't supposed to have seeds, so probably not the honey stick. You could go to a number of guinea pig sites and see what veggies and fruits they are allowed to have without harming them. Best of luck!

STOP ALL THE JUNK FOOD, NO MORE MCDONALDS!!

i understand that you love ur bun, but you should never feed them meat. they natural herbivores.

they love grass,hey, etc.

but you need to start them on a diet of pellet rabbit food like suppa rabbit excel and balance it out with grasses, hey etc

but only now and again NOT OFTEN: you may give them weetabix, special bunny choc, shreaded wheat.

stick to this and your bun will live long and healthy!!

No, its not.

Even rabbit treats are as unhealthy as McDonald's is for humans. So can you imagine what McDonald's is like for animals?

I know you want him to be happy and healthy but by giving him unhealthy junk food, he will sooner or later see the concequences and get ill. Like any animal would.

Stick to fruit, veg, grass, hay, dandylion leaves and every now and again RABBIT treats are ok.

Good Luck
Best Wishes

I would skip the meats and fried foods. If he really likes everything else, give him a nibble of it now and then.

My bunny loved Twizzlers. I'd give him about an inch length of a Twizzler a couple of times a week. I couldn't NOT do it after he showed me he loved them so much!

Make sure your bunny has a good supply of timothy hay and nutritious bunny pellets, as well. Fresh veggies may not be enough at such a young age, since his metabolism is so fast right now.

1. YOU need to go on a diet for eating that junk

2. ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOU BUNNY! If you want to spoil him give him a carrot or some celery

3. If you have money to buy that expensive junk, instead of getting it try getting your bunnyboo some toys!

4. I hope you change your ways.

I'd consider STOP feeding him all these sweets. It is rather unhealthy for your rabbit. Keep in mind, rabbits are herbivores, therefore, the nuggets shouldn't be fed to him, either.

Please stick to the proper diet for a rabbit. If you want to spoil your rabbit, do so with proper treats that won't end up making him sick in the long run.
