A teen girl has a friend that she has known pretty much for 10 years. This friend, a guy, has been in the same classes as she for most of elementary school years and also has been in many same junior high (middle school) classes. They have been friends all along for a long time. However, recently, this guy has become more rude, and stand-offish, and even accused the teen girl of being a "goodie-goodie." The teen girl likes this guy as a long time friend, but is becoming more and more saddened by his apparent rudeness. It is always been a strickly platonic friendship and definitely not a romantic one. He has begun calling her disparaging names. Like, "ugly" or "you're too tall for a girl." So, my question, after that long background summary, is what would you suggest would be the best thing for this teen to do? Should she try and continue to talk to and "put up" with her friend? Or should she move on and drop the friendship? This girl is very sensitive about it.

Drop the friendship. It'll be painful, but it's not worth her enduring his rude comments. My sister went through this same exact thing when we were growing up. She had a guy friend all the way from elementary school through middle school and by about 10th grade, they ended up going separate ways. He went with a crowd that she didn't agree with, and he mocked her morals. I remember her having a really hard time losing him as a friend. Years later, she could care less. Your friend will be better off in the long run if she only associates with friends that build her up and make her a better person instead of people who insult her.

We all know the girl is really you! "she'' should talk about it with her friend first it could be a whole misunderstanding..find out the truth first then decide what you'll do! GOOD LUCK ;)
