I went on a trip a few years ago and would like to make a scrap book out of the pictures I took.

Scrapbooking is actualy the art of collage. It is all about your memories, so let that, and how much time and effort you are willing to make, guide you.

It can be as simple as pasting pictures to a page, and writing the date and event next to them. You can then add various embellishments, like ribbons, a wash of watercolor in a corner, or a cutout graphic. Perhaps you have paper items from your trip, like the plane/train/bus tickets. You went to plays, or concerts and have the tickets or playbills. Maybe you have postcards, or a napkin from a restaurant. All those items can be added to a page, to remind you of that moment.

Start with a blank scrapbook you really like. We emphasize archival quality, if you can, look for that word in the description. The bhook can be blank pages, or a ring binder of some kind with sheet protectors you then add completed pages to.

If the pages are going to be added, then go and find pages you wish to use as a base. Again, archival quality is a good idea, or your memorabilia can get discolored over time. Scrapbook pages are found in all kinds of stores now, in various sizes. If you want to be adventurous, create them on your computer.

Next, if you like, look for items to embellish with. Stickers, fabric, ribbon, cardstock, are all items used with great success. Embellishments are really whatever you wish to add to the page to emphasize or compliment your memories.

Possibly the most important, hardest, personal, and yet simple addition to any scrapbook page is your words. You should always put notations of what the page is about, the date, the event, etc. Beyond that, the loveliest pages are often ones with one simple picture and a journaling entry about that event next to it. Include your feelings, memories, wishes.

Its all about you. Begin with that, and you will do fine.

good luck

It depends on your crafting style. You can make an album and decorate your own paper, then arrange photos and other mementos on it with little cutouts and lettering you make yourself - or if you are not creative or you're pressed for time, you can buy colored pages and embellishments in the scrapbooking department of craft stores.
