because 13 is bad luck. A lot of people with tristadecaphobia won't work or live on the 13th floor. So why waste money. They just don't have a 13th floor.

Superstition, superstition. The number 13 is supposedly a bad luck number for some people. That's why even if a building has a 13th floor, they label it 14th just to appease superstitious people. Of course those people would still skip floor number 14 becuse it is, in reality, number 13.

Because of old superstitions about the number 13. The reality is that, regardless of how they're numbered there is a 13th floor above the ground in any building over 12 stories tall. You'll find that many newer buildings no longer follow this somewhat dated convention.

It is a common building practice - 13 is considered an unluckly number. In Las Vegas, some casinos don't have the 4th floor. Why? In asian cultures - 4 is unlucky, as the character for 4 is very similar to death. As such, in Las Vegas, you can find buildings without a 4th or 13th floor.

some elevators "pass" the thirteenth floor. maximum do not worry. reason? some human beings do not opt to employ or personal area on the thirteenth floor of a progression. both because they are superstitious about the #13 ... or they think of their acquaintances or shoppers will be. Dear friend as you may know the ancients of Babylon were the greatest astronomer at their time and they referred each god or goddess to an specific zodiac and they dedicated 12 zodiac to 12 lords with their icons (for instance Aries, Taurus Gemini and … for), ultimately, they refer the non exist zodiac, I mean 13, to the devil or satin to cheat him. From that time till now the number (13) has been the sing of bad luck and nobody chose this number for any places .How ever this idea is based on superstition but many people follow it .

Unlucky number. I believe there was a hotel in the U.S. somewhere (Chicago?) that when it caught on fire only the 13th floor burned.

It's considered to be bad luck, so in a building that high they just skip on to the 14th floor....this is more common in older buildings...
