I miss the ENTERTAINMENT! Remember when a 'season' was 26 weeks long? Remember when there were no "infomercials"? And NO "REALITY" PROGRAMS? Boy, I really hate those! Cheap; degrading; hostile; ugh! I remember comedy, and drama, and mystery, and variety, and good manners, and no "V" chip. Everyone had a dial for changing the channel, and all T.V.s came with an on/off switch. Good times!...Saturday Night FUNNY!, not inane...Oh! and the only price was the commercial. Not hundreds squeezed into a nano-second; a commercial. Remember the announcer's phrase "Brought to you by..." ? And just think- one of these days we'll look back on "now" as the "good old days". Brrr. And, Oh yeah, re-runs were so infrequent you were glad to see them? A chance to see what you'd missed and/or revisit and old friend?

I miss that stations used to show many more sporting events on free TV. Growing up in NYC, I used to watch the Mets, Yankees, Islanders, Rangers, Knicks, and Nets all on local independent stations for free. Now with cable and satellite, you hardly see anything unless you pay for it.

There also used to be "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" and "The Midnight Special" that used to show either live studio performances or "videos" before MTV even existed.

I miss the comedy variety shows. I guess there isn't enough talent now to do shows like Gleason, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Carol Burnette,Flip Wilson, Red Skelton and such.
