I have just had a baby and want to celebrate this by getting a new tattoo. I want some sort of symbol representing motherhood/children. I really like ancient runes/symbols and the ancient symbols of other countries. Any websites with good pictures and meanings explained would be good thanks.

Do you have a triple goddess symbol? This would represent you at all three stages of your life: maiden, mother and crone.

There are several symbols you could use. The full moon is one (representative of the mother goddess aspect of the triple goddess head). You could even do something as simple as the one that the March of Dimes uses. It's a very abstract picture of a mother holding a baby. It all depends on what you're going for specifically.

Perhaps a chalice. It's a symbol for the feminine principle, and motherhood is a sort of initiation....or perhaps a Goddess...

my cousin got a tattoo of baby feet and hands on her lower stomach. it looked like the footprints you get taken after birth. hers were generic but you can get actual copies of your childs feet or hands along with a name or quote or birthdate with it. i think they look cute
