The Indians of All Tribes, INc. took over Alcatraz in 1969. The Amer. Ind Movement (AIM) began in Minneapolis in the 67 or 68. AIM was famous for their takeover of the BIA DC office in 72 and their little insurrection at Wounded Knee in 73. They still speak out on Indian rights across the country, but they're no where near the militancy that they showed in the early 70s
