Would you stonewall them and tell them why? Or politely handshake and then go wash the hell out of your hand. Keep in mind these are people doing both #1 and #2. Nasty people.

I would stonewall and tell them why. I heard a lot of men do not wash their hands. Is this true? I do have to shake hands with people occasionally at work but I carry waterless hand gel until I can make it to the restroom to wash.

UUUMMM This is nasty but I will admit, that at my kids soccer game we only have those porta potties to use, and I know Ive shaken hands or came in contact with quite a few people who didn't wash there hands. But in a normal setting I would just politely say I'm sorry I don't shake hands

Ewwww No!!! I used to work with a girl who NEVER washed her hands after using the bathroom. We had to hand each other notes and files back & forth. I would always tell her to just put them on my desk, then I'd use whatever I could find to pick them up so I wasn't touching them. Eventually I brought a pair of gloves to work just for this reason. When finally I couldn't take it any more, I asked her about it. She tried to explain to me how washing your hands after using the bathroom didn't make a difference. I said well to me it does, so don't be offended when I don't want to touch anything that you've touched, and we left it at that. =)

A lot of people don't wash their hands, so if you shake hands, at all, you're already doing so with a lot of people who don't wash.

It's kind of a distasteful thought, but there are a lot of things in life that you're better off not thinking about. Just wash your hands soon after shaking with ANYBODY, because you never know who the negligent person is. It could be anybody.

Depends on the person's position within the company. I once had this happen with an important client. So, I politely shook her hand and then got right to the bathroom to wash my hands. I don't think I would have the guts to confront someone about it....although I certainly wish somebody would because it is disgusting that they think it is ok to spread their germs throughout the entire office.

I'd look at their hands, and politely say, "Your nasty butt needs to wash your hands. " YUCK. How can a person not wash their hands after using the bathroom. Even if I don't use it, I wash my hands before I leave out of the bathroom.

No, I wouldn't shake hands and I would stonewall them. I wouldn't give them an explanation. That would just be rude and embarrassing for the other person.

I would not shake their hands and I'd ask them if they washed their hands after using the restroom. Actually, this has happened to be before.

I don't shake hands with anyone. I find a bow does nicely. People seem to find it refreshing. Although some people don't get it. But I assume those people don't get a lot of things.
