Yes, I WILL vote for him and he WILL win. He is a brilliant tactician. He is letting the Republican populace get disgusted with the clear lack of a conservative leader in the party. He is letting them blow all of their war chests early. You just watch; come July/August, he will swoop in as the savior of the Republican party. My money and vote will go to him. Red State '08, baby!

In maximum polls Rudy beats Hillary, The left is extremely worrying Thompson will run, for they fractured their base after the 06 election by potential of letting the some distance left run away with the administration, be conscious the excellent low ballot numbers so quickly after an election. the middle of the line Dem's are re -rising and drifting to Fred Thompson like the Reagan Democrats did in the 1980's

I think he is too late. With Romney gaining in the polls and Gingrich on standby Fred (probably no fault of his own) has missed the window of opportunity. Even though, not many want to admit it; politicians are voted into office primarily on their charisma and character. Fred Thompson is a speaker, someone we love to listen to as he has the right voice and is able to make common sense out of the English language. But when he gets in front of a camera and has to answer left field questions, he really doesn't do smooth sound bites, additionally, unless he's laden with paste and creme makeup he doesn't look good either.

Sorry to say, but for all of our intelligence we are a fairly stupid when it comes to national elections and voting. Statistically we vote for people we like to see rather than their substance. If we question the way they appear, we can get used to it if; they are on the nightly news a couple of times a week.

He's not even an actual candidate for a good reason. Would you run as a far right wing Neo-Conservative right now? I think the Bush administration and his many blunders has killed any hope for such a candidate if not for all Repub candidates in general. The Dems will win the presidency in 08 unless they totally screw it up and I do not see that happening.

He has to declare first doesn't he? I think he will eventually, but he hasn't yet.

No, he's way too far right wing. I know that many people think he is "the one" that can solve the Republicans' candidacy problems. But, if he as right wing as he seems to be, he might hurt their effort more than help it in this anti-war atmosphere we have right now because of Iraq. A lot of if's around this guy.

I would say he might be a good contender but I would need to know more about him. So far he is smart enough not to rush in and look silly like a lot of them are.

I think Fred Thompson would make a wonderful candidate. He would stand head and shoulders above the rest including the dems. I guess it don't take much to stand above Hillary Rotten Clintoon though......

Maybe, but any candidate that wants to continue the war in Iraq is going to have a tough time getting non-Republican votes.

There are still a few hurdles for him to clear, such as actually announcing his candidacy.

However, he looks like the best choice for the Republicans, and the Democrats really didn't give themselves any good choices.

No, of course he won't win. Democrats have 2008 in the bag...where have you been for the last seven years?

But he will probably get nominated, 'cos he's all "Hollywood" and stuff.

Republicans *adore* actors. Ray-gun, Schwarzenegger, Eastwood, now this tv guy.

They LOVE actors! Reality just ain't their bag.
