because they are searching for their identity and lots of kids follow the pack. So they see someone like you and want to follow you, be you, and and be part of the gang.
But once in, they don't know what it's all about. And they get scared until they have been initiated..then the group/gang gives them backing, so then they don't get so scared.

Well my hubby is in a gang BPS and our kids will know nothing about it at all..And we will instill that gangs are stupid. Even though gangs actually help my husband and I out..We will still continue to hangout with the members because they are like family, but our kids...no way..
Kids these days dont fight like the Old G's. They pull guns out, rape, murder just because. No reason just to show they are cool. Back in the day killings happen when something went wrong..now its because KIDS are trying to run the streets. And if you notice these kids are the kids of the gang members that are dead or in jail..

I am about to do a paper about gangs for school. I think that a lot of kids join gangs mainly because they want the protection that gangs provide. Studies show thought that kids in gangs are exposed to more violence then those who aren't so they are really not being protected. Also, you say you are in a gang so you know that being in one means making a lot of money through drug selling and stealing.

They are scared of the other youths that don't know them. They walk down the street in packs, yet they walk real slow because they are so scared they do not want to get caught out there without their gang backing them up. Its really terrible though. When I was in my teens we went where ever we wanted to go and it didn't have to be even two or three of us. They are cowards yo, just like everyone that owns a gun is a coward that is scared.
You want be tough or brave. Be the only one without a gun amidst cowards packin' heat, that's courage or Brave. Gangs activity allows you to gauge how much fear is on the streets.

Kids are getting into gangs because of the breakdown of society and homelife as a whole. Parents have to work to provide for the family and even in 2 parent homes in most cases its not possible for the mother to stay at home to "raise" her children. Our movies, tv and video games glamorize violence and children immulate what they see.
We and our children need God to guide us. We need to surround ourselves and them with positive role models.
When we reach out to our neighbors, community, church and friends and become accountable for our actions and for one another, we will then begin to see change.
We as a people can't change the "surface" problems (and gang affiliation is just that), until we get to the "root", pull it up and begin to heal ourselves and our nation from the inside-out....One child at a time.
As the old Proverb goes "It takes an entire Village to raise a child.
And the Scriptures say: "Train up a child in the way you would have him go...and he won't depart from it"

They want to be part of the in crowd and if the cool kids are in a gang, then they want in also. It's a shame they don't have better role models in the older youth.

Normally you will find that kids who are in gangs, are usally kids who are having problems at home, so they look for a family that they can count on.
I for one blame the parents.

You just answered your own question! They are getting into gangs coz they are scared....scared of being bullied if they are alone, scared that they have no friends, scared that they'll appear like losers, scared that they don't get acceptance from 'friends' if they aren't in their friends' gangs.

I think it's because their parents aren't watching them. For whatever reason. My parents always either had me in their sight or knew exactly where I was and what I was doing. First of all unless I was with someone they knew well I wasn't out of their sight until well after I was 16. Even then, if I went somewhere they had to approve my going, who with, and the activity. Also they had people watching me. They wouldn't tell me who it was either.
