Well maybe if you replaced the word "women" with "people", you will know that a woman has the same rights anyone else does. What rights do you think you have? Whatever rights you have, we have. We have a right to have free speech. We have a right to live without being harrassed. We have a right to live in peace and not be abused. We have a right to be a man's equal. Admittedly the majority will not be a man's equall physically because a mans body is stronger. In the Military, however, it is a different matter. While women hold high ranks as men do, and are just as capable to do what a man can do, including fight, they wont send them into war. I think that is because women can be used....tortued, raped, etc and because men seem to want to protect women (conditioning maybe) then they can put the whole battallion at risk and her comrades will take riskier behaviour to save her...where they wont be as foolish if it was a man being held captive. If women, really do have equal rights, then men have to let go of their conditioning.....they have to believe that women have the same capabilities as they have. I dont like total women's rights. I like to feel protected, because I am not as strong as the majority of men, and I would like to think that if I was being attacked.....a man would come to my aid....so lets hope women's rights dont go too far.

As instructor, you should collect some key OBJECTIVE information first.
1. History: What does the US constitution say about people's right and how was it interpreted for women (and for that matter, people of color). Similar history of the same issue with several major western nations and (if you wish) other developing countries. A time line of 2-3 centuries with heavy focus on the 20th century is useful
2. Who were the champions in the US and the world and their background and work
3. Scope of right: rights such as the right to vote is based on discrimination of women. But rights such as abortion is complex and encompass legal, moral, and religion. It was only about a decade ago when women were allowed to serve in combat (exposed to life and death)
4. What are the current hot topics?

You should have as much hard facts down and displayed. Then, depending on how much time you have, open the floor systematically for views from both sides, which you have to serve as both MC and referee.

You have to be careful about women rights vs a wish list. Equal pay in the workplace regardless of gender is implied but in practice men are paid more than women. But it is difficult to legislate how employers hire. How many weeks for paid maternity leave is not a right but a benefit.

Forgive me if I offend..but your nick name implies you are from a different culture which has very different ideas of the topic. Basically, we believe that all 'men' are considered equal. If you look it up, the term 'men' in this case refers to 'mankind' which includes women and men of all types. Equal pay for equal work, right to vote, right to work, right to express an opinion and even a right to fight for their country. Yes, things have taken time to reach this point and there is still some way to go...but as with any person...we all bleed the same color red. Other than a few minor differences, there is no real difference between men or women anywhere on this planet.

Women STILL on average make only 75 cents for every dollar a man makes for the SAME work.

The women's movement was needed because things were not EQUAL between men and women, and ALL Americans have the SAME constitutional rights.

The movement impacted culture in a very negative way. Women no longer have a "place", its all helter skelter and the break down of the American Family is a direct link to the women's movement.

Just bring it up like "what are you're guys thoughts" kind of thing, and go from there. That way you don't appear like either you're afraid of the discussion or confrontational etc.. =)
