Yeas early this morning a bomb explodes in Las Vegas killing one person. Police said the blast was not a terrorist act but an apparent murder of a Luxor employee.
Bad things can happen everywhere. No terrorist act but an isolated incident, nothing more than a homicide with an unusual weapon.

Luxor is a great place to stay. The only thing that I don't like is they've gotten a little ritzy, but in doing that they also did a lot of renovations, so a lot of things are new and fresh. I think the idea of staying in a pyramid is very cool, and it's in a great location on the strip, also it is connected to Mandalay Bay by a mall, or you can take the free tram between Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and Excalibur. Out of the 2 I would rather stay at Mandalay Bay, and since they are so close together and are owned by the same company you might want to try calling Luxor and/or mandalay Bay to tell them what happened and maybe they will fix it.

The explosion appears to have targeted the Nathan's Hot Dogs employee who was getting off of work at 4:00 a.m. Some local news reports indicate that it something in the nature of a cup sitting on his car which exploded when he picked it up (I'm thinking maybe a hand granade with the pin pulled) -- there is absolutely no reason to be afraid to stay at the Luxor -- this is not a terrorist attack. It is either someone out to get the employee or some idiot who placed it randomly. The entire upper deck is video taped and they will probably have full details by later today. I've parked there many times and would not hesitate to do so again.
Life would be pretty miserable if we hid in our houses every time something bad happened.

Listen, the police think this was a pre-orchestrated murder of this one person. Don't you think that if someone was out to "get" the city, they'd put a bomb or something inside one of the casinos at a busy time - like this past weekend when the fight was happening and not on the roof of some poor schmuck's car? These idiot terrorists want to do the most damage with the least work - that's why they have car bombs and stuff that take out 20-50 people or more in marketplaces.
If the rooms are non-refundable and no threat was made to the hotel or city itself, I'd say you're got a snowball's chance of getting your money back.

No, no, no...it wasn't a Luxor employee, but an employee of a vendor on the atrium level.
The bomb was targeted towards the person who was hurt. It happened in the parking lot.
The hotel was and still is functioning normally.
The Luxor is a great place to stay and all the employees take pride in their jobs.
I was in the hotel today and there was no problem.

Interesting question.
i suppose if you were smooth and really made the hotel feel that you were scared for your life you might be ble to get out of it. But I serioulsy doubt it.
This was an isoltated case. Probably a professional hit on someone who set themselves up for it. This stuff has been going on in Vegas for years. In the 70's and 80s this was a daily occurence. I wouldnt worry to much.

I didn't hear that! Gosh! I stayed there last June and got stuck in the Elevator! for 30 mins! noone knew I was there and there was NO emergency button! I am still in counseling! joking but they gave me a "free upgrade" I think I will pass..but things can happen anywhere. scary though..They won't refund you because they are in need of your money now more then ever..but good luck. just don't hit the elevators after 2:30 am!
