Great question:))
The threshold is always HERE n NOW...not a "thing" in time or space...not the object in awareness but consciousness/awareness itself...
The threshold to cross to enlightenment is just a 180 degree turn towards what is already here b4, during, n after thought: pure, pristine awareness...untouched by any passing phenomena...
The fish in the sea is asking all the other fishes "where is the sea? i've heard of it, but where is it?" Meanwhile, he's already in it! lol

For me, Awareness arrived while in a state of grace. The Enlightenment came with the ability to go on with business as usual after the fact.

Awareness is noticing the fragmentary details that comprise the universe. Below awareness lies not even noticing the curiosities and anomalies of existence.
Enlightenment is when all the pieces come together.
(There is a false enlightenment when everything is *forced* into a single pattern.)
I'm still working with fragments, though some of them have clumped together.

I have crossed and not returned.
Awareness is consciousness towards things surrounding you. That threshold of awareness, i have achieved , and it comes to nothingness, when awareness has gone too much.
Enlightenment is blissful state of one mind that have achieved the highest level of awareness which is nothingness.
So the threshold is when you become started to live present NOW. You bring no memory from past and bring no future to now. And that is to the threshold.
For the end of these two, you will achieve to nothingness. Nothingness is achieved when you feel empty inside you, and outside you.

Its not a "where" its a "when"! That moment is when the vastness between the two makes a difference. Yes I've crossed it and returned many times.

A scared jackrabbit is highly aware but not at all enlightened.
Very few humans are enlightened but many are aware.

Awareness is knowing which door to open. Enlightenment is opening it and going in. I have walked through many doors with many more to go.

I believe it's called an epiphany, and I've crossed it many times. When I stop finding the reason to do so, the game is over.
